He was my older brother’s best friend.
He was never supposed to be mine.
I thought we would get it out of our system and move on.

One of us did.
One of us left.

Now he’s back, looking at me like he wants to devour me. And all those feelings I’d turned into anger are brewing into something else, something that terrifies me.
He broke my heart last time.
This time he’ll obliterate it.

Elle and Oliver were already attracted to each other, when they were younger, but as Elle was the little sister of Oliver’s best friend, they weren’t suppose to have any romantic relationship as Vic was very protective of her. Things that are suppose to happen, happen anyway and that’s how it went with Elle and Oliver, their chemistry drew them together, but after that night Oliver left and Elle was heartbroken. Elle eventually moves on with her life and even gets engaged to an older guy, but unfortunately  her heart breaks again, when her fiance dies. After a year of Wyatt’s death she moves in with her brother and then she meets Oliver again. Oliver is determined to win Elle back and Elle isn’t very cold towards him either…

“The hearts I make are shattered, but whole. They’re kaleidoscopes that beam under the sun. They signify hope in love when you’ve lost it because, like love, you can look at a kaleidoscope a thousand different ways and find something new every time. Shattered or not, if you look carefully enough, you’ll find something beautiful in them, and all beautiful things are a little broken.”

It was my first audiobook experience and I am definitely going to listen to more audiobooks in the future. It was a quite typical NA book in my opinion, but fortunately it offered several emotional moments and I really liked the ending, it was an icing on the cake.

“You can try to steer your life in a certain direction all you want, but ultimately, the wind is in charge of your sail.”
